Bearing Witness to Abu Ghraib:
Exhibit April 24 – May 23, 2010

Artist Daniel Heyman has spent the past four years producing an extraordinary series of portraits of survivors of the prisons at Abu Ghraib and other Iraqi sites – see Heyman’s profile on our website and visit his site for other examples. From 2006 to 2008, Heyman accompanied the detainees’ American attorneys to Jordan and Turkey, sitting in on their meetings and sketching as the survivors told their stories. Each print or painting includes excerpts from the survivor’s interview, swirling like hurried graffiti around the portrait. “Bearing Witness: Stories from the Front Lines” is a new exhibit of Heyman’s work at Wesleyan University’s Zilkha Gallery from April 24 to May 23, 2010, with an opening reception and talk by the artist on Friday, April 23. Check the Gallery’s website for details. The exhibit will be open during the University’s Reunion & Commencement weekend, for any of you who may be attending.
